Music Therapy and Songwriting

This week’s article is from The Conversation and written by Felicity Anne Baker, Professor of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne.

Felicity shares findings from a study she conducted looking at the effects of songwriting on the survivors of a brain or spinal cord injury. At MBMT, we use songwriting often as a powerful tool to explore thoughts and feelings that may otherwise be hard to express.

Felicity states, “Songwriting is a creative and worthwhile therapeutic tool, even for people who don’t call themselves musicians.” We couldn’t agree more!
